Goodbye to the nice weather from this past weekend

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - We’ll see a pretty big cool-down coming off of the very pleasant early November weekend. Skies will be partly cloudy behind a departing cold front. Winds will be out of the north northwest and will be fairly strong, as high as 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph. This will draw in come cooler air. Look for high temperatures today from the lower 50s northwest to the lower 60s in the southeast. Skies will become mostly cloudy overnight with some light rain possible, mainly in the northern third of Nebraska. Low temperatures overnight will range from around 30° northwest to the lower 40s southeast.
Some light rain may linger in the far northeast early on Tuesday. Otherwise, skies will become mostly sunny. Winds won’t be as strong, mainly 5 to 15 mph. They will start northeasterly and become more easterly with time. Temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 50s. Cloud cover will then thicken up overnight Tuesday night, which will keep temperatures up a little. We’ll see lows in the upper 30s and low to mid 40s. Late in the night, we’ll see some showers move into our western counties.
Showers are expected to push east across the area with a some thunder in Eastern Nebraska on Wednesday. By Wednesday evening, the rain should be clearing out of the area. Some rain may linger into the evening in Eastern Nebraska. A cold front will move through along with the rain. This front will turn winds out of the northwest and they will be a bit on the blustery side. Look for highs on Wednesday mostly in the low to mid 50s.
Thursday should be dry with the brunt of a low pressure system well to our north. On the south edge of it we will continue to see cool temperatures and strong northwesterly winds. In fact, colder and and strong northwest winds will come in for Friday. Along with that, there could be some light snow Thursday night into Friday for parts of North Central and Northeast Nebraska. High temperatures on Thursday will range from the mid 40s northwest to the mid 50s south. Highs on Friday will be colder from the upper 30s northeast to the lower 50s southwest.
The weather will slowly improve this weekend. Highs on Saturday will be wide ranging from the mid 40s northeast to the low to mid 60s southwest. Temperatures on Sunday may improve a little bit, especially for the areas that were still colder on Saturday. Highs on Sunday will range from the upper 40s northeast to the lower 60s southwest. One thing to watch for on Sunday is if some light moisture may try to sneak into Northeast Nebraska on Sunday. We’ll also see winds a bit breezy on Sunday.
