HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - We get another day of warm temperatures, but will likely see a few more clouds than yesterday. Most of what we’re seeing is upper level clouds, but skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with the thickest clouds to the west. While it will still be very warm today, it may prevent us from getting to record high territory. I’m forecast highs to get to the upper 60s and low to mid 70s. Record highs for today 77° in Grand Island and Kearney. It is 78° in Hastings. Meanwhile, winds won’t be too strong for most, but might get a bit breezier northwest of the Tri-Cities. Those area will also have low relative humidity. The combination of the two will lead to an elevated fire risk for those areas. A cold front will push through Northern Nebraska later this afternoon. Then it will push southeast through the rest of the area this evening. Behind the front, winds will take a northerly turn. They will be on the breezy side at 10 to 20 mph. Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy behind the front. A few sprinkles or light rain is a possibility, but the odds remain relatively low. By early Wednesday morning, low temperatures will range from the upper 20s northwest to the lower 40s southeast.

Wednesday will be a blustery and chilly day as temperatures come down about 25 to 30 degrees compared to today. Highs will mostly be in the 40s, but might get to 50° in our southeastern communities. Winds will be picking up at 15 to 30 mph. Gusts at times could get over 35 mph. Clouds will be clearing during the day with the thickest clouds lingering longest in the southeast. Skies will become completely clear Wednesday night and winds will lighten up. This will give us some cold temperatures heading into Thursday morning. Low temperatures Thursday morning will drop back to between the mid 10s west and the upper 20s east. Thursday will be another chilly day, but may feel better with less wind and more sunshine. High temperatures on Thursday will range from the lower 40s northeast to the lower 50s southwest.

Friday through Sunday we’ll see some improving temperatures. Expect partly cloudy skies those three days and each day does look to be a bit on the breezy side. Highs on Friday will range from the lower 50s east to the low/mid 60s west. Highs on Saturday will be similar, but will range from the lower 50s north to the lower 60s south. Sunday will be a bit cooler with highs from the mid 40s north to the mid/upper 50s south. Monday features a bigger drop in temperatures as colder air slides in from the northeast. We’ll see highs from the mid/upper 30s northeast to around 50° west.
