UNK Cheer takes lake plunge to support football team
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Back when UNK football won its eighth game of the season, head coach Josh Lynn made good on his promise at the beginning of the season to jump in the lake at Yanney Heritage Park.
On the bus ride home, as soon as the team was back in Kearney at 1:00 a.m., Lynn did it.
So, when the Lopers continued their impressive play and had a chance to make the NCAA DII Playoffs, the school’s cheer program made the same promise. Qualify and the Hype Squad would take a swim.
The Lopers were the final team of 28 selected for the national tournament, and the next day, UNK cheer made good on their promise, too.
