GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man was arrested at the YMCA after his girlfriend reported to police that he had threatened her.

According to Grand Island Police, John Ford, 25, had been making threats to his girlfriend via text messages saying he was going to kill her.

Police located Ford at the Y in downtown Grand Island. Upon a search, police found a loaded 9 mm pistol in his gym bag. Police said he did not have a concealed carry license and was not authorized to have a firearm in his possession at the time.

Ford was taken into custody for terrorist threats and carrying a concealed weapon.
