Downtown Hastings gets a facelift
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Downtown Hastings has gone through a facelift in recent years, but it was only made possible through public funds.
The money originates with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, then it goes to the states to give it to the cities for use on improvements that need to be made.
The City of Hastings used the money to entice developers to improve the facades of building, if they have a plan to improve the indoors as well.
Randy Chick is the Director of Business Improvement District for Community Redevelopment Authority and he says there is yet another opportunity for downtown improvement.
“Well this will be another great opportunity for downtown revitalization efforts,” Chick said. “The $400,000 we will receive from the Department of Economic Development will hopefully generate another three or four million dollars of private investment.”
When it comes to those private investment funds, Chick said he hopes when all is said and done the total number of those funds totals $10 million.
