Bennington too much in 42-14 win over Aurora for Class B Championship
LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - In Class B, it was a battle of the top two seeds for the state football championships, but the Badgers of Bennington left little doubt by the final whistle.
Badger star Dylan Mostek gave the Huskies fits the last time the two teams played each other, and that continued Monday. He broke off a huge opening drive run for a touchdown to put the Badgers up early, and they didn’t really look back.
Aurora put up a fight with their bell-cow, Carlos Collzo. He found a big hole to run through in the opening quarter to bring it down to the Bennington 6-yard-line, but a crucial interception in the end zone turned the Huskies away.
Aurora’s Drew Knust threw a few first half interceptions, but Collazo did his best to keep the Huskies close. He found the end zone for a second quarter touchdown. However, Mostek broke off another huge touchdown run to the tune of 89 yards, and he broke the single-season rushing record in the process.
