KENESAW, Neb. (KSNB) - Kenesaw High School won the D2 state championship on Monday, but it wasn’t just the team that won. The community of Kenesaw also feels like they won.

They went to Lincoln on a mission. That mission? Winning a state title for the first time in school history. The outcome? Taking home their first state championship.

But it was the community behind the team that helped propel them to a perfect season and state championship. None felt the support more than the seniors of the team.

Sean Duffy plays both tight end and linebacker and he says knowing he had the support of his town gave him confidence for a top notch performance.

“Yeah its been great, they have been with us through the whole season. Ever since we were freshmen they have supported us the whole way and they are just a great great support to have,” Duffy said.

But even larger than football, the people of Kenesaw saw this as an opportunity for community to come together around their guys.
