GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Scholarship applications for the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation (GGICF) open Dec. 1 and will run through Feb. 9.

Applicants may apply by navigating to the scholarship page under the communities tab on for important dates and details and begin the process.

“At the Foundation, we provide a wide variety of scholarships,” said Kendra Lutz, the GGICF Program Officer in charge of scholarships. “Because of this, we created a simple ‘one-stop’ application that allows a student to fill out a single application, and our system automatically matches them to scholarship opportunities they may be eligible for.”

Available scholarships are open to both traditional and non-traditional students in the Grand Island, Doniphan-Trumbull and Sherman County areas. Last spring, over $240,000 in tuition assistance was disbursed to nearly 100 local students.

The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation was established in 1960 with the overarching mission to “empower people to turn their passion into purpose by creating legacies that strengthen the future of the communities we serve.”
