December records in jeopardy...
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Early December temperatures are moving into rarified air. Record highs will be on the line, Thursday as sunshine , westerly winds and warmer air push potentially push temperatures to as much as 30 degrees above the averages for this time of year. The record for Grand Island is 70 degrees set in 2012 and for Hastings, 68 degrees going back to 1956.
A cold front will slide into the area Thursday night. Winds will switch to the north and Friday’s highs will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler with another shot of cool air to follow on Saturday. Temperatures Friday will still be above normal making a run into the mid to upper 50s but Saturday will have a hard time climbing out of the 40s. There will be more consistency in our weather next week as highs stay mainly in the 40s.
