Hastings para wins top state honors
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Angie Riley took home the top paraeducator for the entire state of Nebraska, but what helps her there was strong relationships with her students.
Riley is a para-professional at Lincoln Elementary in Hastings, where she works alongside special education students at the school.
She said she doesn’t do the job for the awards, but to help the kids thrive.
“I think the first thing is getting to know each student, you should know each student, know a little about each student that way you can build a relationship with that student,” Riley said. “But you have to be happy when those kids come into your room.”
Riley also said the award made her feel both honored and surprised.
