HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The good news is, this recent cold snap will only last a day. Winds will become southernly tonight which will stabilize evening temperatures and even cause them to rise overnight into Tuesday morning. Clouds will continue overnight into Tuesday before breaking up by the afternoon. Southwest winds will switch to the northwest behind a weakening cold front, but temperatures should still warm into the lower 40s.

We’ll continue to fight off the December cold through midweek as a warm front spreads east, allowing temperatures to resume into the 50s.

Friday, an upper level wave coming out of Canada will carve out a trough bringing a shot at some snow for the Heartland. There is still some specifics to work out in terms of placement and timing. The storm is expected to progress fairly quickly which would keep snow amount down, but there will likely be more forecast model adjustments before we can work out the specifics. Beyond that, it looks like mild weather will resume the following week as there are signals for more 50+ degree weather.
