HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - As the weekend comes to an official close, we can say goodbye to those mild 50s and 60s as a series of systems will move through the region this week ushering in winter temperatures. The first will be a cold front that moves through tonight. Expect clear skies overnight tonight with breezy west northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Winds will back off as we approach sunrise. But with colder air in place, this will keep temperatures on Monday in a range from the mid/upper 30s north to the upper 40s south. Highs on Tuesday will be wider ranging as a much stronger cold front dives south and brings some gusty winds. Highs will range from around 30° northwest to the lower 50s south. Both days will be mostly sunny. Everybody will be much colder on Wednesday with highs from the mid/upper 10s up north to around 30° in the south. There is a slight chance of snow for the south central Nebraska but with this system it look like most of the precipitation will be off to the east. There is yet another system that will makes its way through next weekend which is something to keep an eye on. Both the GFS and EURO models show possible snowfall for south central Nebraska New Year’s weekend. It still too far out to tell what the impacts may be, but it is something we’ll be watching through the week.
