HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Blood banks across the country are suffering from historic lows at their facilities, but organizations like the Red Cross are trying to do their part to help that.

The Central Nebraska region of the Red Cross held blood donation events in the tri-cities on Tuesday.

Those events were staffed by volunteers, and some of those volunteers have first-hand experiences of being helped by the Red Cross.

“Volunteering for the Red Cross is very important for me,” said Kathy Adams, Red Cross volunteer. “It’s a way of my being able to give back for the help me and my family have received from the Red Cross in years past. Personally, I have been through a home fire so we had help from the Red Cross.”

If you would like information on how to donate blood call 1-800-REDCROSS.
