KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - While the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has made the decision to require masks indoors on campus, the same can not be said about UNK.

University of Nebraska at Kearney told Local4 face masks are not required in classrooms, labs or other locations on campus.

UNK Spokesperson Todd Gottula said that the university encourages students and employees to be fully vaccinated and wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

Employees and students are required to report to UNK’s Public Health Center if they test positive for COVID, have symptoms or were in contact with someone who has COVID.

UNK will continue to review and monitor active cases on campus, in the health department area and Nebraska. UNK’s policy is subject to change if circumstances warrant.

As of Thursday, January 6, UNK has 9 active COVID-19 illnesses being tracked, including 6 students and 3 employees.
