HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - As we head into the evening and overnight winds will shift to out of the west northwest as a surface trough moves into the region. This will offer down-sloping winds which will warm the air slightly allowing for morning lows to be not as cold as we saw last night. Skies will be mostly clear overnight with winds starting off out of the southwest at 5 to 10 mph but shifting after midnight from the west northwest. Morning lows will range from the single digits in the northeast to the mid and upper teens elsewhere.

The warming trend begins on Monday as winds once again shift back to the south southwest bringing in more warmer temperatures. Skies will be sunny and winds at a tolerable speed out of the south around 5 to 10 mph. It’s from here through Thursday that we see well above average daytime highs as ridging occurs in the central US. Things continue to warm up past Monday. Highs on Tuesday will warm up into the upper 40s and low to mid 50s. Wednesday will firmly warm to the low to mid 50s. East of those days will be breezy with mostly sunny skies. Thursday will still mostly get to the low to mid 50s just before some cooler air moves in for the end of the week. It’ll be down to the upper 30s and lower 40s on Friday. Temperatures may cool down just a little more for the weekend. Otherwise, we’ll have to watch for a chance of moisture at the end of next week, but that is not a certainty at this point.
