Grand Island man shows off Christmas ornament collection

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Too late for Christmas? The Hall County Historical Society doesn’t think so.

They held an event on Sunday afternoon at the Burlington Station in Grand Island highlighting Christmas decoration of yesteryear, some of the decorations were as old as a century.

John Hansen collects all the decorations and it’s not a new pastime for him, he’s been collecting since the 1980′s and said Christmases of the past hold a special place in his heart.

“I mean in my opinion you can’t compare what they made back then to what’s produced now,” Hansen said. “Whether its the graphics on the boxes or the details on the ornaments or its the lighting I mean it in no way compares.”

Hansen’s collection includes ornaments and other vintage decorations.
