OLB Caleb Tannor announces return to Huskers for fifth season
LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Nebraska football will return a veteran presence to its linebacker corps in 2022.
Outside linebacker Caleb Tannor announced on Monday that he will be capitalizing on an extra year of eligibility by coming back to the Blackshirts for a fifth season. A native of Stone Ridge, Georgia, Tannor started every game and recorded a career-high 33 tackles during the 2021 season. He also had two sacks to increase his career total to 7.5.
“I do not know if it is so much growth in between the white lines,” Nebraska defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said of Tannor, per Husker247. “I think it is growth outside the lines. Caleb has become, this year, in my opinion, a really good teammate. He is starting to develop leadership traits. He is taking care of business in the classroom. He is taking care of business off the field. He is just really fun to be around right now.”
Added junior outside linebacker Garrett Nelson: “When I first got here at outside linebacker, he would miss meetings or be late and not give 100 percent at practice. When Coach (Mike) Dawson came in, he taught him a way to turn over that leaf and how to be mature as a person, how to be a leader, how to set a precedent in practice and he turned himself into one of the hardest working guys in practice and in the film room with what he does.”
