HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) -Howard County Medical Center announced a new visitor policy on Friday. HCMC officials, along with CEO Arlan Johnson, made the decision to change HCMC visitation policy to help try to protect their patients and staff within the facility.

The change in policy is as follows:

  • For Inpatients: Patient are allowed one visitor per day. The same visitor can come throughout that day, but it is limited to just one. Temperature checks at the nurses station prior to visiting each day. Any exposure or symptoms for that visitor will eliminate their ability to visit.
  • For Outpatients: Patients are allowed one companion, spouse, parent, etc. for their visit. Understanding that if a parent brings other children in with them accommodations can be made.
  • For COVID-Positive Patients: No visitors. Proper masking is required throughout the facility and by every individual within the building at all times.
  • Accommodations can also be made for end of life situations.
