HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings College honored the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday remembering the civil rights leader and others who had an impact on black history in America.

Students at the college presented readings from iconic Martin Luther Luther King Jr. speeches throughout his life. Then they add the personal importance of the speech to them.

“Personally its a connection of a long history at Hastings of doing things like this that I’m just a step in a long chain that goes back to the 1880s and that in 50 years somebody is going to be me hosting this event with another group of really engaged really interesting students that makes it fun to come to work every day,” Hastings College professor Dr. Jonas Prida said.

Dr. Prida presented a lecture on black representation in the academic world.
