HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska Hospital Association held a press conference, on Monday that brought together top executives from hospitals from around the state including Ed Hannon from CHI Health St. Francis.

The NHA brought in a representative from all of its three member hospital systems, Box Butte, CHI Health and Bryan Health.

They covered topics ranging from staffing shortages, hospital bed availability and the importance of vaccines and boosters in the fight against the virus.

Hannon spoke on a few different subjects including staffing, he says even with everyone being stretched thin everyone is still working hard.

“Our patient loads and our staffing needs have grown exponentially especially over the last two weeks,” Hannon said. “We currently have over 200 patients within our hospitals. As I mentioned 91% of these are on ventilators and are not vaccinated.”
