HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Biden Administration has now made a way for people to get COVID tests and N95 masks for free. The White House launched the website where people get up to four at-home tests per family.

People will be able to get N95 masks from pharmacies and health centers. The Central District Health Department’s Teresa Anderson said there is an upside and downside to at-home tests.

“Having tests that arrive at your home, you don’t have to travel, you don’t have to fight the crowds to get it, you can test in the privacy of your own home, and you don’t worry about infecting anyone else prior to getting tested, and that’s an important piece of it,” Anderson said. “The downside of the home testing is that from a public health perspective we will never know if you tested negative or positive because you’re not required to report it.”

Anderson said until N95s are available another solution could be double masking while in public.
