KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Tri-City storm will be well represented in the 2022 Beijing winter Olympics, with former player Matthew Knies putting on the red white and blue for Team USA Hockey.

Knies played forward for the Storm from the 2018-19 season through the 2020-21 season.

During his last season with the storm he racked up 17 goals and 25 assists. Knies says he’s not throwing away his shot at gold in Beijing.

Knies said he is grateful to take his shot at gold in Beijing.

“I’m really excited, I’m really fortunate for this opportunity I’m gonna take full advantage of it,” Knies said.

After the Storm, Knies started his college career at the University of Minnesota.
