Three arrested after multiple hour incident in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Three people are in police custody after an hours-long incident with police in Grand Island Wednesday evening.

Earlier Wednesday evening, a driver reported a black, Buick Envision Essence passed them eastbound on Faidley Avenue traveling south of Webb Road and that the front passenger brandished a firearm as they passed them.

Officers were able to locate the address associated to the vehicle, where they were able to detain John Armstrong, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. During a search warrant, officers located a defaced firearm inside the vehicle where John was sitting.

In addition, Officers observed Saysavanh Saiyavongsa walking towards an apartment on the 500 block of East 16th Street. Saysavanh wouldn’t stop when officers gave him commands and went into an apartment, where he refused to come out.

Officers learned Saysavanh and Alex Cruz, who both had a Hall County warrants were both inside the apartment. Officers performed a perimeter around the apartment and gave commands for the people inside the apartment to come out. GIPD obtained A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and the Buick.

Officers located Cruz and Saiyavongsa inside the apartment hiding. Both males attempted to hide and resisted arrest when officers approached them. Officers located a bag of methamphetamine inside the apartment where Alex and Saysavanh were located.

Saiyavongsa was arrested for obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and an active Hall County Warrant. Armstrong was arrested for possession of a defaced firearm, terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, obstructing a peace officer, & resisting arrest and Cruz was arrested for obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of controlled substance and an active Hall County warrant.
