KEARNEY, Neb. (Press Release) - The UNK wrestling team climbed two spots in the updated NWCA Division II Rankings that were released on Saturday from fifth nationally to No. 3. The Lopers showed why at the annual Midwest Duals at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds.

UNK breezed through the competition, blasting junior college power Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, No. 21 Colorado School of Mines and Western Colorado.

The Lopers improve to 7-3 in duals and bounce back in a big way from a close setback to NAIA power Grand View (Ia.) last Saturday. At the Buffalo County Fairgrounds, UNK downed NEO 43-3, beat the Oreddigers 38-3 and got past the Mountaineers 32-12. The day included five falls, five tech falls, four majors and two forfeits.

Redshirt junior Austin Eldredge (McPherson, Kan.), ranked fifth nationally at 184 pounds, is now at 174 pounds and he recorded tech falls by scores of 20-3, 20-2 and 16-0. Northern Colorado transfer and Omaha Skutt grad Billy Higgins is at 184 pounds and his day included a 15-0 tech and a 52 second fall.

Next, 11th-ranked Nick James (Kearney High) got past 10th-ranked Dean Noble of WCU, 15-9, after a 13-0 major against Mines. Finally, now 11th-ranked Hayden Prince (Goose Creek, SC) went 3-0 as well, outscoring the competition 32-13.
