Longfellow Elementary to require masks
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - All students and staff at Longfellow Elementary will be required to wear masks starting Wednesday, January 26.
Hastings Public Schools Superintendent Jeff Schneider said the absentee rate at the elementary has surpassed the metric put in place as the three day average absenteeism due to illness is over 12 percent.
He said several other buildings are close to hitting that metric, but have stayed below the 12 percent.
The masking requirement will be in place for two weeks, and if the rate drops below 12 percent, masks will no longer be required.
Back on January 21, Alcott Elementary had to start requiring masks after its absentee rate due to illness reached more than 12 percent.
