GI man facing charges after running from police

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand island man has been arrested after running from police early Wednesday morning.

According to Grand Island Police, the incident started when police first saw the vehicle at 2nd and Lincoln then they were able to locate it again at Clark and Koenig around 1:30 a.m

After running the plate, police learned they were stolen.

At this point, Matthew Stout, 30, took off in the vehicle in a high rate of speed. Police said Stout crashed the vehicle a short time later in the 1100 block of South Eddy. Police said Stout then took off on foot where officers chased him through back yards and over fences. He was apprehended and take to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

While at the hospital, officers discovered methamphetamine in the gloves Matthew was wearing.

He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, personal injury, felony flight to avoid, theft, and possession of meth.

Stout was booked into the Hall County Jail.
