GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police Chief Robert Falldorf is retiring next year.
A memo prepared for Tuesday night’s Grand Island City Council meeting indicates that Falldorf has written a resignation letter to the city and his last day will be January 13, 2023. Falldorf has served in the Grand Island Police Department for 35 years.
The city council Tuesday night will decide on a measure that would increase the salary range for the next police chief.
City officials Tuesday declined to tell Local4 what Falldorf is being paid now, but did say that his salary is between $101,481 and $159,401 per year, which is the current budgeted range for the police chief position.
The council Tuesday night will vote on whether to increase the salary range for the next police chief to between $129,851 and $174,417 per year.
Falldorf joined the Grand Island Police Department in 1986. He was appointed police chief by the city council in 2016.
