DONIPHAN, Neb. (KSNB) - Saturday made for a windy day of the Trap Shoot State Championship.

It was the final day of the event, ringing together high school trap shooters from around the state.

A stroke of good luck hit the event, when just before the severe weather hit Friday they were wrapping up the day’s activities.

Organizers said they weren’t as lucky Saturday with high winds effecting the shooters.

“Our weather has varied a lot this weekend,” said Eric Javins, state trap shoot director. “Yesterday afternoon the wind picked up and we have been fighting the wind since then and then today of course the wind has been very very extreme, we have had to shut down one trap house down because it was throwing rocks way to far out of bounds for safety issues.”

Javins also said the wind provided an extra challenge for shooters.
