CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (KSNB) - The NSAA high school baseball District B-3 semifinals began at Kernel Field in Central City Saturday morning between No. 4 Hastings and top-seed Central City/Fullerton/Centura.

The Tigers made it to the semifinals after a 7-3 opening-round victory against No. 5 Raymond Central Friday. And Hastings’ journey to State is not over yet.

Despite losing just one game all year and hosting the District semifinals with a 20-1 record, the Kernels were upset by the Tigers 4-3 in extra innings.

In fact, it took eight innings for Hastings to pull off the upset, but the Tigers advanced to the District championship. They will play the winner of Saturday’s other semifinal game between No. 2 Elkhorn and three-seed Platteview.

The championship is on Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Kernel Field.
