HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A passing cold front made for a pleasant day for much of the Local 4 viewing area while southeastern areas ahead of the front, were baking in 90 degree heat. That will be a precursor for the rest of us as it will seem as if we are foregoing Spring to jump right into summer, but it will only be for a couple of days. The cold front will stall over Central Kansas keeping most of Nebraska in a north and northeast flow of winds, which means it will remain mild on Tuesday with 70s and 80s over the west and central areas with a few 90s still possible in the far southeast.

Tuesday night the front will lift back to the north as a warm front with warm, more humid air pushing highs on Wednesday and Thursday into at least the lower 90s.

With the added heat comes instability. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible over areas west of Highway 281 late Wednesday afternoon/early evening. The question will be how much moisture will be available for any severe weather, but other parameters will be there for a marginal risk for damaging winds and large hail. The next cold front will arrive on Thursday and will be the focus for more thunderstorms, this time from the Tri-Cities into Eastern Nebraska. Again moisture will be the question mark, but condtions will be present that, if the moisture arrives, supercell thunderstorms could develop with again damaging winds and large hail the main threat.

Beyond Thursday, seasonable mild conditions will presist through the weekend into early next week as temperatures climb into the 70s, with only a small chance of thunderstorms on Saturday.
