New program at Mary Lanning Healthcare offering telemedicine visits
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Mary Lanning Healthcare Diabetes Program and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center Endocrinology are partnering for a new program that offers telemedicine visits.
This allows pediatric patients who previously had to travel for their care through Children’s to now use telemedicine once a month at Mary Lanning. The visits are scheduled through Children’s and the MLH Diabetes staff helps facilitate visits.
DeAnn Carpenter, the MLH Diabetes Program Coordinator, said Children’s chose MLH because of the already existing program at Mary Lanning
“We already have an established Diabetes Program, and staff are familiar with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors,” said Carpenter.
The MLH Diabetes Program has provided a telemedicine option for adults since 2002, and that has grown to more than 900 visits per year in Hastings with three out-of-town providers.
