HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings Fire & Rescue recognized multiple people this week for their efforts during the devastating fire at Bert’s Pharmacy.

Fire Chief Brad Starling spoke during Monday’s City Council meeting, where he highlighted how Water and Street Department employees went above and beyond during such a large-scale event.

He said members of the street department helped get fencing up and made sure the storm drains were cleared as the fire caused a lot of debris. He also added that the water employees worked hard dealing with issues unfolding including main/valves breaking.

Hastings Fire & Rescue and the Office of the Fire Chief presented a certificate of appreciation to employees for their exceptional performance during and after the fire at Bert’s.

The names of employees who were recognized include:

- Dale Christen

- Levi Thompson
