Buffalo Co. authorities to host Police Memorial Ceremony

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The public is invited to attend a Police Memorial Ceremony happening next week as part of National Police Week.

In observance of National Police Week (May 11 – 17) and Peace Officers Memorial Day (Sunday May 15), members of the Kearney Police Department and Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department will host a ceremony in front of the City of Kearney/Buffalo County Law Enforcement Center.

It will take place Monday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m.

Officers will take a moment to remember Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty and thank our community for the continued support. There will be a National Anthem solo, a ceremonial placing of a wreath at the base of the flag pole accompanied by bag pipes, the playing of Taps and a Police Honor Guard rifle firing party.

In addition to remarks from several distinguished guests. There will be temporary traffic delays near the LEC, 21st Avenue and A Avenue during the ceremony.
