Thursday’s storms wreak havoc on I-80
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Thursday’s storms made their presence felt along I-80. Campers and semis were no match for the high winds and low visibility.
The section of interstate which saw the most impact was from Giltner to York. Nebraska State Patrol responded and was aided by both Hamilton County and York County Sheriff’s Offices.
NSP told Local4 News the winds caused several accidents along I-80.
“The second set of storms that came through at that five o’clock frame that came up through Hastings caused we had between semis and campers 10 separate incidents that occurred from 325 at Giltner to the York Interchange.” Sergeant Joel Bergman said.
Bergman also said it’s better to delay a trip than to be on the road during a severe storm.
