HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Most of the area will have quiet weather for Wednesday with warm temperatures rising into the low to mid 80s. Up north, there is a chance of some afternoon and evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.

At this point, the severe weather threat isn’t very high. Thursday will feature more wind and heat. Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s and low to mid 90s with a cold front approaching from the northwest. South southwest winds will increase to around 15 to 25 mph with some gusts to 35 mph. While there is a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms with the cold front sweeping through, the chances is much better over Northeast and East Central Nebraska than it is farther southwest. Severe storms would be possible there.

The cold front will bring some dramatic changes to our recently warm weather. Much cooler air will settle in to end the week and begin next week. High temperatures on Friday will range from the mid 50s northwest to the upper 60s southeast. It’ll still be a bit on the windy side, but with winds out of the north northwest at 15 to 25 mph. There is a small chance for showers late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The chance favors our southern communities more than our northern communities. Saturday will be another cool day with highs mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Sunday will be mild, but a little below average with highs in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s. Look for similar highs on Monday with our next chance for rain.
