HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - As the weather continues to warm up, more motorcyclists are getting their bikes out of storage for the season, making it more important to stay on the look out for these riders while out on the roads.

A driver should be aware of their surrounding at all times and look both ways when making a turn or changing lanes.

Braden Arrants, general manager Hastings Honda, owns a motorcycle and he offered up some words of advice to other drivers.

“Stay alert, stay off your phones while you’re driving, just paying attention,” Arrants said. “Motorcycles are also loud so, listen for them as well as hear for them and just kind of almost assume there might be something in your blind spot.”

He also told Local4 News he believed that, most commonly, car and motorcycle crashes occur when a driver is turning at an intersection and fails to notice the motorcyclist.

Arrants said their dealership had recently sold a more-than-usual amount of motorcycles to inexperienced riders, making it all the more important to stay alert while driving.
