HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A Hastings man is facing drug charges after being arrested Tuesday night by Grand Island Police.

GIPD said around 8 p.m., officers observed a motorcycle speeding through a residential area without caution of the traffic around him.

When police attempted to contact the driver, identified as 33-year-old Tony Perez, in the 1400 block of West John St., the officer witnessed Perez discarding property and trying to hide behind a vehicle.

Police located 18 grams of methamphetamine, 31.2 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia (baggies, digital scale and glass bong).

After Perez was contacted, a state inquiry found that he had a suspended driver’s license. A Miranda interview of Perez revealed that he had been distributing quantities of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Perez was arrested for Careless Driving, DDS, Drug Paraphernalia, Possession Controlled Substance w/Intent-Marijuana and Possession Controlled Substance w/Intent-Meth.

The address where he was found at was the same home of Vincent Nagel. Nagel was arrested in late April following a shooting at Island Inn Motel. Police had served a warrant at his address on W. John where they recovered drugs among other items.
