OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - Throughout the high school baseball season, Central City-Fullerton-Centura didn’t have to come from behind often, but after losing their opening round match-up in the State Baseball Tournament, they’ve had to become the “Comeback Kernels.”

Wins over top-ranked Norris and #7 Elkhorn earned the Kernels a date with #3 Elkhorn North Wednesday night. Kale Jensen was on the bump for CCFC, but EN’s Luke Tillman smacked an RBI double early in the game to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

However, the Kernels came to play. Bryce Gorecki sent a shot to left-center to even the game up at one. CCFC would open up a 2-1 lead and take it late into the game, but Elkhorn North’s Treyton Wells drove in the go-ahead run for the Wolves in the 5th to take a 3-2 lead, and they didn’t look back on their way to a 5-2 win.
