OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The 2022 State Track and Field championships is officially complete. Classes C and D finished up Saturday and Local4 is reflecting on which area athletes took home gold medals.
Riverside’s Tony Berger took home the gold medal in the Class D boys triple jump Friday with a leap of 44′3.25″. He topped the podium at State for the first time in his career for the event. Saturday, he added onto his successful haul with a State title in the boys long jump with an effort of 21′6.5″ and another in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.63 seconds.
“It feels nice,” Berger said after his triple jump win. “Last year I got third in triple jump, so it feels nice to come home with the gold. It really just completes it, puts a cap on my high school career and feels good to win it for Riverside.”
