OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The first day of the 2022 State Track and Field championships for Classes C and D is in the books. With attentions turning toward the end of the tournament Saturday with the remaining events for those classes, Local4 is reflecting on which area athletes took home gold medals Friday.

Teagan Gonsior of Fullerton secured the gold medal in the Class D girls long jump with a winning leap of 17′8″ for the State title.

“I am very grateful for my team and my coaches and my family because they have helped me be where I am at today,” Gonsior said. “I felt that I had a lot of pressure on me to repeat, but I just kept my nerves down and knew what I had to do.”
