OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The first day of the 2022 State Track and Field championships for Classes C and D is in the books. With attentions turning toward the end of the tournament Saturday with the remaining events for those classes, Local4 is reflecting on which area athletes took home gold medals Friday.

Grand Island Central Catholic’s Marissa Rerucha won the Class C girls pole vault gold medal with a clearance of 11′6″.

“It feels great,” Rerucha said. “Obviously, I”m really sad that it is over, but I couldn’t have asked for a better season. And it’s just been great. It means everything. This is all that I could really ask for. I have worked so hard for this and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
