GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Business at Grand Island restaurants, bars and hotels is better now than it was last year.
According to figures from the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, the fiscal year-to-date revenue from the city’s food and beverage tax is $1,571,657. This is the amount collected from the beginning of the current fiscal year starting last October through March of this year. The Chamber said this is 15.1% higher than the same six month period a year ago.
City budget planners projected that food and beverage tax revenue for the 2021-2022 fiscal year would be $2.4 million. The current fiscal year-to-date total represents 65% of that projection.
In fiscal year 2020-2021, the city collected $2,569,255 in food and beverage revenue. The figure for fiscal year 2019-2020 was $2,223,309.
