LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - The second day of the Mike Peterson/Coach K Legion Memorial Tournament took place Friday at multiple sites. Kearney Runza played two games at Densmore Park.

Runza first defeated Nebraska City Post 8, 14-4, after a 10-run second inning that gave them an 11-0 lead.

“Coach K was a good friend of mine,” Kearney Runza coach Brad Archer said. “Played baseball with him at Kearney State College and unfortunately he passed away at a young age. And so, it does have some meaning for me to come down here and participate in this tournament. We’re looking for wins any time we can get them right here, but it’s nice to start the tournament off 1-0.”

In the second of the back-to-back, Runza played Omaha Westside KB Building Services. A closer game throughout, Runza would in a walk off, 5-4, to sweep both games on the first day of their tournament appearance.
