HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A heat advisory will continue to be in place through tomorrow evening as temperatures continue to be hot under a upper level ridge of high pressure and strong southerly flow. Clear skies overnight with a warm breezy south wind. Lows in the mid 70s across much of the area to start off the new work week. Mostly sunny skies for most of us tomorrow with. Clouds will be thicker out west where a surface trough is currently set up. Tomorrow’s highs will be hot once again reaching the upper 90s for most places with a few reaching the 100 degree mark. There is a marginal risk for severe weather tomorrow late afternoon and evening for central areas with the greatest risk further north. The primary threats with any storms that become severe will be quarter size hail and damaging wind gusts to 60 mph.

As the cold front pushes southeastward, there will be some slight relief from the heat Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs on Tuesday will range from the mid/upper 80s northwest to the upper 90s southeast. They will mostly be in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s on Wednesday. Starting Monday evening, there will be some chance for thunderstorms through Thursday night. The chances look to be better during the evening and overnight hours than they do during the daytime hours. The best chance of seeing daytime showers and storms will be on Wednesday which looks to be the coolest day of the week with highs in the 80s.
