‘It’s an honor’: Sertoma 8-man all-stars ready for football Saturday
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The East and West all-stars selected for the 45th annual Sertoma 8-Man football game have spent the past week at Central Community College - Hastings preparing for this weekend’s game.
The event, which is typically played at Hastings College, will be played at 6:00 p.m. at Adams Central this year due to field renovations at Lloyd Wilson Field.
Kenesaw’s Tyson Denkert is on the West team and expressed his excitement for Saturday.
“It’s an honor to be selected for two all-star games,” Denkert said. “One for 11-man and 8-man. And being close to home, about 15 minutes and 30 minutes, so get a lot of fans coming to the game. It’s just a good time.
“It’s a great experience to meet all of these new guys that we’ve played against and now we’re teammates, so it’s just a different perspective on the game and teammates.
Meanwhile, Cross County star Carter Seim is proudly repping the East.
“It means a lot just repping my town and community,” Seim said. “They’ve had wonderful support, so it just feels great to be out here with a great bunch of guys. We have a great cause and that’s why we’re here. I’m just going to do what I do. Just running hard, making plays, being a good teammate.”
