GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Lazy K Arena hosted the Nebraska Ranch Horse Association Show over the weekend.

Contestants were judged by how well they exhibit their horses, what they’ve learned and their riding skills.

Gretchen Geweke was a youth contestant at the show.

“We just get together and have fun and show our horses to the best of our ability,” she said.

Geweke also said she and her horse, Jet, were in it for the practice. She noted, she’s learned a lot so far, including important life lessons. Geweke told Local4 News that having great friendships and learning how to manage responsibilities are two lessons she’s taken away from the show weekend.

“Definitely more people should get into it,” she said. “The horse industry is amazing and it’s really great for kids, the elderly — there’s so many different opportunities and it’s definitely something that will last you a lifetime.”
