HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Some lingering storms could hang on in parts of southeast areas early Friday morning, but much of the day will be dry as heat returns, but for only a day. Temperatures will climb back into the 90s, but a couple of locations could top out at 100 in far southern parts of the Local 4 area. Heat index values could climb over 100 as well.

An approaching cold front could yield some scattered thunderstorms late Friday afternoon into Friday evening, with conditions again ripe for the possibility of severe weather, this time farther north.

In the wake of the front the weekend will be cooler with 80s expected on Saturday, and upper 70s on Sunday. The mild conditions should carry over into the early part of next week before we heat back into the 90s Tuesday and beyond.
