Grow Nebraska host annual MarkeTech conference
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Grow Nebraska held its 24th-annual MarkeTech Conference June 21-22 at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney. The event featured small business owners from all over Nebraska looking to learn how to grow their business into a brand.
“We want to provide knowledge to Nebraska businesses about how to market with technology,” said Janell Anderson-Ehrke, CEO of Grow Nebraska. “Over the years we’ve seen a lot of changes with social media but it’s become more and more important.”
They also brought in representatives from well-known, home-grown companies like Runza and Allo participate on a panel; giving advice to business owners on how to grow their business.
“I think it’s really important because businesses need to know about all the great opportunities,” Anderson-Ehrke said. “Our keynote speaker [Maria Elena Duron] gave a lot of good advise about Google trends today, to open today’s session. The networking sessions are more hands on and we had Whole Foods and Russ’s B&R talk about how you get into those stores.”
She also explained how this year’s event was an all-time record in attendees with 57 exhibitors and 263 business owners.
“This event is different from other networking events because I get to stay in the state of Nebraska instead of have to travel to another state,” said Hemp Co. Owner Brett Mayo.
Mayo went on to describe what he gets from attending Marketech.
“Networking,” he said. “Meeting a bunch of new people and doing interviews to get the company name out there. Just getting out here and being the face of the company, meeting lots of people, and educating. In our business, CBD in Nebraska its not a huge thing, so we’re just educating people. Telling people how safe and natural it is and how it can help them.”
This year’s event was earlier than last year’s due to partnership obligations with the Nebraska State Fair. Next year’s event will be pushed up as well, to March 1-2 as Grow Nebraska partners with Nebraska Tourism and Business for MarketTech 2023.
“We do have hundreds of attendees that have been to almost every one of them and that just keeps telling us we’re hitting the mark,” Anderson-Ehrke said. “That we’re providing topics and information that people need - that’s a really important indicator to us.”
