KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The number of COVID-19 cases continued to creep higher in the Kearney-based Two Rivers Public Health District.

Thursday the district moved its weekly risk dial into the yellow or “moderate” risk category.

  • 187 new COVID cases were reported in the district in the last week
  • Since June 1, 593 cases were reported. The weekly test positivity rate tripled in June, including a 50% positivity rate in Phelps County.
  • As of this week, 53% of the district’s population had received the minimum dose of COVID vaccine.
  • 12 of the district’s COVID cases were patients in district hospitals, including one child.

In a press release the district repeated its call for residents to get vaccinated or boosted. The district also said June figures indicated an increase in COVID incidence and related morbidity in people aged 60 years and over.
