Temperatures climb as well as storm chances...
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Thursday will bring another day of hot weather, but the positive takeaways will be less wind and a reduced fire threat. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low to mid 90s with a few triple digits possible in Northern Kansas.
How high the temperatures climb for any one location will be determined by the arrival of a cold front that will settle across the state during the day. The front will likely trigger thunderstorms.....small chances in the afternoon, then more widespread during the evening and overnight hours. Coverage appears to be from Interstate 80s south in to Kansas.
Conditions are marginal, but the potential is there for one or two storms to become severe and produce damaging winds and hail but widespread severity is not anticipated.
Showers and thunderstorms will again be possible Friday morning and in the wake of the front, temperatures will cool into the 80s both Friday and Saturday. There will continue to be periodic chances for scattered storms through the Fourth of July weekend into Monday. Sunday’s highs will warm into the lower 90s as another upper level high pressure ridge builds and moves over the Central Plains, allowing hot weather to return Monday through the middle part of the week. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s.
